General & Cosmetic Dentistry
The free kids dental scheme provides access to basic dental services for all eligible young children. Introduced by the Federal Government in Australia, free kids dental is paid for by the Medicare system. Under the scheme, eligible children can take advantage of an entitlement up to $1,000 per child, which is spread over a 2 year period.
It’s important to note that the free kids dental scheme is means tested and requires the receipt of Family Tax Benefit Part A. It’s a smart idea to check with Medicare to determine if your child is eligible under this scheme. The free kids dental scheme provides a range of dental services, including examinations as well.
If your child is eligible under the scheme, you can take benefit of x-rays, teeth fillings, root canals, extractions, minor fillings, and general examinations. Please note that under the current scheme cosmetic or orthodontic dental work cannot be claimed as a benefit.
