How To Remove Plaque

It’s important to always remove plaque from your teeth as if left unchecked it can be harmful to your health. Doing so will help you to stay on top of it, simply by regularly brushing your teeth at home. Some of the best ways of keeping your teeth free of plaque may seem obvious, but these simple tips will ensure that you have a fresh and clean smelling mouth.

Follow a regular brushing routine

Regularly brushing your teeth twice every day is one of the best ways of removing plaque from your teeth. This might seem like a simple solution to you, but regularly brushing your teeth helps you to remove plaque which naturally forms in your mouth.

You don’t need one of the most expensive toothbrushes or any fancy attachments, all you need is a simple brush that comfortably fits in your mouth and one that has sturdy bristles. While you can use an electric toothbrush and ones which are on the more expensive end of the toothbrush scale, there is nothing wrong with using a simple toothbrush as it will equally get the job done.

Focus on your brushing skills

Having the correct toothbrush is half the battle but knowing how to correctly brush your teeth will ensure that plaque is kept to a minimum. A proper teeth brushing technique should be an important part of your brushing routine.

Dentists recommend that you hold your toothbrush at a 45 degree angle and then sweep your brush backwards and forwards moving away from your gum line. Remember, it’s important that you do not brush your teeth too hard as this can lead to damage of the enamel surrounding the teeth.

Use mouthwash and floss

Using mouthwash and flossing your teeth after cleaning them are both fantastic ways of complimenting your daily teeth brushing. Rinsing your mouth with mouthwash and flossing between your teeth after meals, as a part of your daily brushing routine will make it much harder for plaque to build up on your teeth.

Dentists highly recommend flossing and rinsing your mouth out with mouthwash, as the benefits to your dental health are definitely worth it. Regularly flossing between your teeth removes any food particles that can get stuck and promotes overall healthy dental habits.
